Lefkada Town (or Lefkas Town) is the capital of the island. It is located in the northern part of the island and is connected to the mainland by a floating bridge called "Santa Maura". A place that the whole family will enjoy, a countless variety and interesting options for shopping, many restaurants and cafes offering fresh local specialties, many outdoor activities and historical sites to visit. If you are looking for the experience of sitting in a bar or a cafe by the sea to watch the world go by, this is the place you want to be.
The town extends over a plain full of olive trees. The old town of Lefkada is built in front of a canal next to the lagoon, the "Pontes" as the locals call it and is distinguished by a characteristic architecture that serves the needs of the earthquake-prone island.
Furthermore, the town of Lefkada is full of churches and chapels. The Church of St. Minas in the center of the city is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Lefkada and is built in a Venetian style.
Other interesting sites in Lefkada town are the Public Library, the Archaeological Museum, the Phonograph Museum, the Folklore Museum and the Castle of Santa Maura, just one kilometer from the city.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the ancient city of Lefkada, Nirikos, was located 4 km southeast of the present city.

It is one of the best marinas in Greece and one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean. It is located on the east side of Lefkada town, opened in 2002 and can accommodate up to 620 vessels (45 meters each). Lefkas Marina visitors can find cafes, a supermarket, a hotel, and even a gym that will offer you a pleasant vacation.
Lefkas Marina is open throughout the year, offering its guests high quality and attentive service. Qualified staff is available and willing to help you and satisfy all your needs.

Just 4 km from Nidri, the visitor encounters a pleasant surprise, the stream of Dimosari and the Nidri Waterfalls.
The exotic waterfalls, a small turquoise lake and stones sculptured by the water, combined with the trees, create a natural monument ideal for relaxation or - for the more adventurous - a chance for a refreshing swim!

Faneromeni is the patron saint of the island of Lefkada. The locals built a monastery in one of the most beautiful spots of the island, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, to honor her. Visitors can get there either by car or on foot, climbing a beautiful trail that mounts the hill of Frini.
The view from Faneromeni Monastery is simply magnificent, indescribable! From there you can see the whole city of Lefkada and the lagoon - for which the locals say that the shape of the reefs in the western point looks like the Virgin Mary holding Jesus. Also the beaches of Agios Ioannis, the windmills, Gira, Santa Maura Castle and even Preveza in the background!
In the monastery, except for the welcome room and the cells of the monks, visitors and pilgrims can admire the small Byzantine Chapel and the Museum of the Orthodox Christian Art. The monastery also hosts a small zoo in its garden.

A beautiful Venetian castle, dating from the 14th century AD, built during the Frankish occupation. It is named after the small chapel inside the castle, which is dedicated to Santa Maura.
It is a well preserved fortress, built in the North of the island on a reef and is a symbol of the region, welcoming visitors at the entrance of the island.
